Happy belated Thanksgiving to all of my Canadian followers! As many people tend to do on Thanksgiving, I went out to my Grandparents for the weekend, to see family that I generally only get to see once every few years. And to prep for going away, I was terribly busy all that week.
Hence, there was no new post last Sunday. For that, I am sorry. But, you know... life happens!
So the past couple of weeks have been rather insane for me. With Thanksgiving coming up, and a large, extended family dinner, it means there was a whole lot of baking to be done. And I mean a lot. I think I spent a straight three days in the kitchen, baking cookies, pies, squares - pretty much anything you can imagine. Of course, before I could do any baking, there was grocery shopping to be done. Unfortunately, this means that I was unable to take time to write a new blog post, or do any filming or editing for my YouTube channel.
Fast forward to the weekend. It's a four hour drive to get to my Grandparents on a good day, and even more if there's traffic. And guess who ended up being the driver? That's right. This girl. So even if I wanted to work on a post while in the car, I couldn't. Then we get there, and it's nothing but visiting (since all of my Grandparents live in the same area). Now, don't get me wrong - in no way am I complaining about having to spend time with family. It just so happened that family and blogging would have interrupted one another, and as much as I love sharing things with you all, it would have felt wrong not to spend time with loved ones.
Besides, it's not every day that I get to see everyone. Call me odd, but I really enjoy chasing around after all of the little cousins at our large family gatherings.
Even this week, I was finding it difficult to make time to film a new video. Between having to cook our own Thanksgiving dinner (as my Mom wasn't able to drive out with us for the weekend), prepping my sister for a few days at camp, and getting my brother back to school, there just wasn't a whole lot of time in the week. It doesn't help that pretty much everyone got slightly sick as well. Just not the best time.
My point is this: As much as I love sharing things with you, and posting content on YouTube, and as much as I wish I could 100% stick to a posting schedule, there may be times where that's just not possible.
That said, there are definitely a couple of things I learned from all of this.
Driving along Highway 10 (just outside of Brampton) is an utterly breathtaking drive during Autumn.
Sandals are not appropriate footwear for a long drive, particularly when you use cold air to help you stay awake.
Plan things in advance - rather than filming one video at a time, film a couple, so that even if you aren't able to get to them each week, there's something to fall back on.
Stay greatful, everyone!
