We all scream for ice cream!

A "medium" scoop from Holyrood

It's a universally loved treat, and one that's pretty easy to make at home. But that's not why I wanted to talk about it.

Most places that you go to get ice cream, a medium is generally two, fair sized scoops, and you'll probably pay around $3-$4 for it. And that's all well and fine. Or you can go to an all-you-can-eat buffet, and they typically have a selection of ice cream for you to gorge yourself on as well. But if you're ever in Bruce County and are looking for somewhere to get some excellent ice cream, I challenge you to check out the General Store in Holyrood. And I mean challenge.

I'm the sort of girl who will typically order a large ice cream (and if I'm being honest, a large size of pretty much anything), yet even I have never purchased a large ice cream from them. I've only dared to order a medium, because half the time, I can barely make it through that. It's about four heaping scoops of pure, frozen sugar. I'd definitely recommend getting it in a cup if you're going for anything other than a small or extra small, because they're so big that half of it would probably melt before you could eat it! Even my Nana can struggle to get through an extra small, which is around the size of a medium that you'd get elsewhere.

And remember what I was saying about paying $4 for a medium - before taxes, I might add? Well, here, you'd pay that for a large, and that includes the tax. It's absolutely insane!

By now, you're probably asking why this belongs on a travel blog. It's easy, really. Coming back from my grandparent's the other day (they live just down the road from the General Store), we actually drove out of our way to go and get some ice cream from them. For less than $20, my dad was basically able to buy dinner for a family of five, because that's just how large these bowls of ice cream are. Plus, who doesn't love a good recommendation once in a while - especially if it's for a frozen treat during these hot days we've been having.

Stay frosty, everyone!
